July 2007 is a HUGE month for Harry Potter fans.
On July 11 (just 2 days!!), the fifth movie, Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, opens! This is my favorite of the books and contains my two favorite chapters from all six books, "The Advance Guard" and "In the Hog's Head". The previews look good and I am really looking forward to this.
The Harry Potter film series has been just incredible. If they manage to finish all seven films with the same cast and the consistency of quality and continuity they have so far, this will truly be an amazing, historic achievement in film.
And, of course, on July 21, the seventh and final book, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, will be released. To say that anticipation for this book is high is greatly understating the situation. We're picking up our copy at Borders at midnight. Of course, I'll have to fight Rachel for reading time unless I can be persuaded to pony up the dough for a second copy of the book.
I am somewhat terrified of hearing spoilers before finishing so I'll probably read the whole thing in the first couple of days. It will be glorious. :-)

OotP also contains my favorite chapter in all the books: the one with Fred and George's big move.
I came THIS CLOSE to editing my initial post to add that chapter. Also one of my favorites.
I think the movie blew that scene, however. Not nearly as good as it was in the book.
