There's been a controversy in the atheist blogosphere (that's the first time I've ever written "atheist blogosphere" - hey, now I've done it twice) for the past few weeks as North Carolina Senator Elizabeth Dole has been going after her opponent, Kay Hagan, by calling her "godless" and accusing her of having the support of (gasp!) people who don't believe in god! It was a scummy tactic made all the worst by the fact that there shouldn't be anything wrong with that. Yesterday, it finally made national news.
And now, Kay Hagan is
striking back.
"I think Elizabeth Dole has just gone to the lowest of the lows," Hagan said of the ad during an appearance on a talk show on WPTF-AM in Raleigh, North Carolina. "This is an attack on my Christian faith."
Yeah, take that, Dole! The lowest of the . . . Hey, wait a minute.
Oy vey. So calling her "godless" is the most base insult in America. Great. I feel all loved.
Thanks for that, Kay.
And Christians have the gall to pretend that they're persecuted.
