My county, Montgomery County, Maryland, has a really great "dump" facility. It's open every day of the week and you can drive right in. They have these two level bays where the top level is for dumping and the bottom level is for truck access. You simply back into one of twenty spots, and toss your stuff down into a huge bin. When these truck-sized bins get full, they just pull up a truck on the bottom level and haul it away. They also have facilities to drop off yard waste and refuse and recycling drop-offs for appliances, computer equipment and more.
We had a bunch of debris from our recent basement remodel and after loading up the minivan this afternoon, I drove to the facility and had it all disposed of within ten minutes. Awesome.
