For a long time now, I've wanted to blog a series of reviews of Star Trek episodes -- Original Series, Next Generation, DS9, Voyager and Enterprise. I thought it would be fun to compare the best episodes of each series and get down my thoughts. I have, after all, been a Trek fan my whole life.
Fortunately, the new Star Trek movie which rebooted the Trek universe has made my job much easier. So, here are my long-planned reviews of some of the best Trek episodes of all time.
The City on the Edge of Forever (OS) - Unlikely to happen.
Journey to Babel (OS) - Never happened.
The Best of Both Worlds (TNG) - Never happened.
The Inner Light (TNG) - Never happened.
The Visitor (DS9) - Never happened.
Uh . . . (Voy) - Couldn't think of a good episode.
Unfortunately, all the Enterprise episodes will have happened as the events of the movie occurred after them. I'll review those later, although I may wait to see if the next Trek movie erases those episodes too.

I see it this way, now with the reboot, the producers are free to do what ever they want.Yes it piss some folks off
(Like Ipecac), but it will make it easy to roll without the the
Trek dogma, and maybe some real cool things will happen, like a new group of kids digging it.
No, no, no. Don't misunderstand me. I'm not at all pissed. I was just noting the erasure out of wry amusement.
Over time, the modern Treks have been rightfully criticized for using the "Reset button", meaning that huge events (including massive damage to whatever ship is involved) occurs one week and is completely ignored the next week when everything has been reset to the status quo. Voyager was especially fond of doing this.
Fans have also complained about episodes that "never happened." That is, episodes where horrific things happen but then someone changes the timeline or we find out it was a dream and so none of the events actually occurred.
Generally, both are tired and hackneyed storytelling conventions used by lazy writers.
It's somewhat hilarious that the new movie purposely and with glee engaged the complete reset button while also nullifying every single episode of all Treks save Enterprise.
