As with all natural disasters, the message is crystal clear. Isn't it?

Not content with all the human misery the earthquake and tsunami have caused in Japan, many Americans have been reacting, shall we say, *unusually* to the horrific death, pain, hunger and grief being suffered by their fellow human beings.

As I posted before, some on Facebook, as well as some celebrities, are seeing this as an act of god in revenge for Pearl Harbor.  Which would be awesome of God since we didn’t exact revenge ourselves by crushing the Japanese during WWII and nuking two of their cities.  Way to step in God!  Sorry we were so bad at the revenge thing up to now.

Others, of course, attempt to justify their own unsupported beliefs by seeing deliberate punishment of those who *aren’t like us*.

For example, Glenn Beck:

“We can't see the connections here. Now look, I'm not saying God is, you know, causing earthquakes. Well -- I'm not saying that he -- I'm not not saying that either.”

 - In other words, God caused the earthquakes.

“God -- what God does is God's business, I have no idea. But I'll tell you this: whether you call it Gaia or whether you call it Jesus -- there's a message being sent. And that is, 'Hey, you know that stuff we're doing? Not really working out real well. Maybe we should stop doing some of it.' I'm just sayin'.”

 - So this guy doesn’t believe that human beings pumping billions of tons of pollution into the atmosphere causes climate change, but vague, unspecified “stuff” that humans do causes earthquakes and tsunamis.  Good thinking.  Of course, how we identify which “stuff” we should be doing and which “stuff” we shouldn’t might be a bit problematic since the tsunami didn’t exactly engrave any instructions into the various towns it washed over.

“And -- yesterday I got home and I was thinking about all the messages that I could bring in, all the things that I could tell ya, and oh I've got stuff on Hezbollah. Oh, I have stuff on radical Islam in America that'll make your eyes fall out. Or I could just tell you the answer, and the answer is: Buckle up. Buckle up, 'cause it's going to be a bumpy ride. Make sure you keep your arms and legs inside the car at all times. Because, things are gonna get bumpy and, just a few reminders there at the beginning as this rollercoaster takes off, always a good safety tip: Keep your arms and legs in. Don't do anything stupid, what do you say we follow the big top ten. You can call them Moses' ten commandments, or ten rules of thumb. What do you say we start doing those things? Because the things we are doing really suck and they're not getting better.”

 - Because “having no graven images” and “not coveting your neighbor’s wife or his ass” is the best way to prevent earthquakes.

On the radio, I heard a quote from a Japanese Shintoist who also thought the earthquake was a divine warning.

When I was a kid I lived in Utah, and the Boy Scouts was taken over by Fundamentalist Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints (FLDS Church). This, so called religion, practices underage polygamy, they send the boy s off on missions to divide the underage sisters umong the dirty old men of the clan. Now when these underage girls get pregnant, these same dirty old men, send them to the state to get their welfare checks . You should see some of the palace homes that are paid with welfare checks. By the way this is the newest religion that was created right here in United States of America, I guess their also in AZ, NM, TX, NV, CO, OK. Someone should ask Glenn Beck about it, he seems to have all the answers.

When someone hides behind religion to do or say something that is wrong we should stand up and point it out (right the wrong). Someone should ask Glenn Beck about it, he seems to have all the answers.
