An epidemic of incompetent humans

Truly an amazing statistic. I have been approached in a parking lot or other public place by someone who can't get to their distant home in another city, whether from a lack of bus/train/air fare or lack of gasoline, at least a half dozen times in my life. Since that's never happened to me personally, I can only surmise that the people who approached me were really inept at that most basic skill in life, not getting stranded. But what are the odds of me encountering so many morons with the same problem?

Of course, since I have a brain, I've never given these charlatans a dime. I just say no and move on. I always feel like I should tell them I know they're lying, but who knows how they might react.

The stupidest was the guy who told me he needed train fare to get home to his sick daughter in New York. So why was he at Pentagon City rather than Union Station as any real concerned parent would be?

So, unknown woman who approached me in the Outback Steakhouse parking lot tonight, good luck getting home to Springfield. Virginia. Maybe I'll see you next week at the Safeway lot. I look forward to not helping you again.
