Tonight, Carol, Rachel and I went to the Regal Germantown Theatre to see the Fathom Events showing of Stephen Sondheim's Company. The revival of the early 70's musical was filmed during four showings on Broadway that happened in early April after less than two weeks rehearsal. There was a pretty good (if older) crowd in the theatre to see it.
Neil Patrick Harris stars and the company features Stephen Colbert, Jon Cryer, Christina Hendricks, and Patti LuPone. It was fabulous. The music was excellent, the staging and choreography first rate and the show was very funny. If you weren't already convinced, Neil Patrick Harris proves once again how incredibly talented he is.
There are additional showings this week and next. Check out the link above to Fandango for your local showtimes. Tickets are more expensive than a typical movie, but it was so worth it.
Really, this was quite excellent.
