Just Raise the Debt Ceiling Already!

President Obama and the Congress,

Stop trying to work out some grand deal and just raise the debt ceiling.  It's been done dozens of times by every President and Congress since the 1920's except Truman.  It was raised seven times during the Bush presidency!   It's a stupid idea anyway which doesn't do anything but cause political chaos.

Republicans, stop holding the damn country hostage to enact your slash and burn tactics against the government.  We've wasted weeks on a stupid issue which shouldn't be remotely controversial.  All because you are incapable of accepting the legitimacy of this President.

Tea Partiers, defaulting on US debt isn't a path towards economic success.  It won't cut government spending and it won't be a positive thing.  Default will cause global economic chaos and cripple the US economy.  Do you understand what the word cripple means?  Is that really what you want?

President Obama, stop acting like a Republican and enabling their hostage taking.  How about actually demonstrating your professed beliefs?  Compromise is an important aspect of a vibrant democracy, but when the other side won't compromise, you can't win by negotiating with them.

Democrats, stand firm in protecting social security, medicare and medicaid, and other programs that help those who need it most.  You are in the right here.

JUST RAISE THE DAMN CEILING!!
