The point is, he's right!

Republican Presidential candidate, Rick “Frothy Mix” Santorum:

Our founders said [our] rights were given to us to pursue life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. Does anyone here believe that first inalienable right is as whole as it was at the time of our founding? It isn’t. Does anyone believe that our freedom is as whole as it was at the time of our founders? It is not.

He’s right! We are much less free!

Oh, wait, except for women who couldn’t vote back then. Oh, and blacks, of course. They certainly weren’t free. And children and the elderly probably weren’t more free, given child labor and a lack of a social safety net.

But other than those small groups, things were far better for everyone else. Um, white males, I guess that would be. Yeah, white males were definitely more free back when they were the only ones who were free. Oh, except for the Irish. And indentured servants. And . . .
