Texas Governor and Republican front-runner, Rick Perry, has taken a lot of heat for calling Social Security a "ponzi scheme" and a "monstrous lie". But apparently those of us with ears aren't hearing him correctly.
Enter Virginia Governor Bob McDonnell to explain:
Q: What do you think about him calling Social Security a Ponzi scheme?
MCDONNELL: I think what he was trying to say and what all the Republicans were trying to say is to be honest with the people and say if you want to preserve this valuable safety program for our senior citizens for our future generations, we’ve got to reform it.
Ah, brilliant! It's not that Perry is both factually wrong and ignorant, it's that he meant something else entirely from what he said.
Let's see if I can do it too!
Gov. Bob McDonnell is a wonderful human being who is intellectually honest, forthright and would never lie to Americans.
Now how did that sound to you? Because what I meant was that Bob McDonnell is a moronic asshat who is trying to cover up the incompetence and lack of compassion of his fellow governor by lying to the American public.
