Lefty Update

I've had this cast on my arm for six days now.  How am I doing?

Getting rid of the sling was a huge step.  After the first eight hours in the sling my arm ached at the shoulder.  So I took it off and haven't worn it since.  The point is to keep my elbow form moving and the cast does that fairly well.  So while the sling keeps my arm from moving at all, including the use of my right hand, I'm getting by with just the elbow immobilized.

I've adjusted to typing with both hands, being careful not to move my right arm too much.  I am using my hand more than I probably should which is moving the tendon somewhat, but it's just ridiculous to type with only my left hand.  And I can't eat very well with my left.

Otherwise, things are okay.  I take the whole thing off to shower each morning and Carol rewraps the arm.  It's a little tricky and some days we do a better job than others, but we're getting better at it, I think.

So another 8 days and then I'll take it off.  Getting the Halloween decorations up tomorrow is going to be very challenging and the crappy weather didn't help.  I've put up some of them already, but I hate to do a half-assed job since we're clearly the premier attraction in our neighborhood.  I'll make Ben help me as much as possible and I'm sure Carol will help as she can.
