On teeth and dentistry

I take good care of my teeth.  I’ve always brushed regularly but rarely could generate the enthusiasm for flossing.  Consequently, I have a decent number of fillings and one crown from when I was younger.

A few years ago, I started brushing and flossing before I leave work for the day and it’s proved very beneficial.  By making it a routine at a specific time, I’ve kept it up.  The results have been clear and have even made by semi-annual dental appointments shorter, as it takes my dentist less time to clean my teeth.

Last week I had an appointment.  I’m happy to report that I have no cavities and my dentist once again commended my good habits; I was looking forward to another dentist-free six months.  Unfortunately, she told me that the fillings on the right side of my mouth are too old (nearly 20 years) and need to be replaced.  Over time the fillings wear out and shrink, thus allowing decay, and so should be replaced preemptively.  Rats.

So on Thursday I have an appointment to replace three fillings.  Oy.

A dentist can help you prevent tooth decay, which can lead to tooth loss. Although many people are reluctant to visit a dental care provider, it is vital to go to make sure that you do not have gum disease. The dental care provider may suggest that you have a deep cleaning and continue good hygiene practices at home. Sometimes the dental care provider may suggest that you use a specially formulated product to improve the condition of your gums. A large number of American people will eventually suffer from gum disease and some will lose their teeth due to improper dental care. It is recommended that you go to the dentist at least twice a year to get your teeth cleaned. You also need to be sure to brush your teeth at least twice a day and use floss to clean areas between your teeth.

What the heck is it with dental posts attracting dental spam? Do dentists have nothing better to do than spam blogs?

Geez people (or bots).
