Yay for Maryland!

Maryland has indeed made me proud and is now on the way towards marriage equality.  The House of Delegates passed the Marriage Equality bill and it's very likely the Senate will pass it and the Governor will sign it.  Hooray!

Of course, it's likely the bigots will get this on the ballot as a referendum in a last ditch effort to block it.  Because voting on people's fundamental civil liberties is a Christian thing to do.  I already told Carol that if someone comes to our door with a petition to get this thing on the November ballot to kick them in the nads and send them on their way.

In other news, New Jersey Governor Chris Christie decided he's above the legislature and the majority of New Jersey citizens who want to extend equal rights to all their fellow citizens and vetoed their Marriage Equality bill.  Of course he did this to preserve his position with the conservative base and a possible future Presidential run.

What he's actually done, however, is assure that his name will rest in history alongside segregationist Alabama Governor George Wallace.
