I took a lunchtime walk through the Smithsonian’s Museum of Natural History yesterday, which inspired this topic.
My favorite gemstone is the yellow topaz. It’s my favorite because when I was a kid my Mom had a big yellow bottle of Avon perfume called Topaz, and the bottle had a fake yellow topaz on top of the cap. She kept the bottle in the small “powder room” adjacent to the main bathroom so I could see it whenever I wanted. I really loved that bottle and that fake gem. The gem seemed beautiful and mysterious to child Ipecac.
