Sounds about right, actually.
Over the last couple of months, I've started to put two observations closer and closer together. The conservative strain of Americans tend to be highly religious. One of the primary traits of the religious is that they will happily believe something purely on faith and in the face of contrary evidence.
More and more, this is a trait central to conservatives. People ask me why I'm anti-religion, and now I point to this--religion indoctrinates people not into morality or good behavior, but into the habit of accepting anything spoken by authority "just because" and without regard to reality.
SJ,I've been working off of this hypothesis for some time now. They are used to being spoon-fed crap, so Fox is PERFECT for them. Especially since it is largely fear-based.
