If you're masochistic enough to watch the Republican "rebuttal" to the President's State of the Union address tonight (seriously, why does this stupid rebuttal still exist?) make sure to remember this. The guy who's delivering it, Senator Marco Rubio, voted earlier today AGAINST reauthorizing the Violence Against Women Act (VAWA).
VAWA is a 20 year old program that has protected and continues to protect thousands of American women from domestic abuse, dating violence and stalking and funds vital programs to help women. The Senate passed it today (it still has to make it through the House) with 22 Senators, all Republican, voting against it, including Marco Rubio. Because they apparently hate women that much.
And this is the guy the Republicans have chosen to speak for them.
