Today will be a day long remembered

Finally.

After years of unprecedented obstruction, today Senate Democrats eliminated the filibuster for executive branch appointments and the lower courts. No longer can a minority of Republicans upend election results. Agencies hamstrung by a lack of leadership due to Republicans refusing to confirm their appointees, and courts falling years behind because of judicial vacancies will finally get some relief as the Democratic Senate can confirm Presidential appointees with a simple majority vote.

Remarkably, Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell said this just before the vote:
"But by any objective standard, Senate Republicans have been very, very fair to this President."  Link
I'm amazed he didn't immediately burst into flame.

This chart shows the lie.

Of course, the Republicans can still filibuster legislation, but this really is a HUGE deal. It's about time.
