If you had the opportunity to provide healthcare to 400,000 people who had no insurance, without any cost to your state, would you do it? Wouldn't you have a moral obligation to do it? What could justify not providing healthcare?
Virginia State Senator Richard H. Black:
"This was a stunning victory for the Republicans. We passed a budget in a single night and we have effectively blocked Medicaid expansion."
The Medicaid expansion would have given healthcare to 400,000 poor Virginians and would cost the state $0 for two years. That's NO COST to the state of Virginia. Some of those 400,000 people will DIE from lack of healthcare.
And Republicans consider this a stunning victory.
Republicans. The party of death.
