Another Day in America

America is being held hostage by the gun industry and it's killing us.

Solid majorities of Americans support restricting gun ownership, closing the gun show loophole and taking steps like banning assault weapons, but Congress, controlled by Republicans owned by the gun lobby, won't allow that. And the gun industry doesn't control Congress for any reason other than to sell guns.

This week, the Republicans killed a bill to restrict people on the TERRORIST WATCH LIST from buying guns. Apparently, even after crapping their pants in fear of Syrian refugees, stopping potential terrorists from buying guns in America is too much for them.

There have been more mass shootings this year in America than there have been days in the year so far.

And all the Republican Presidential candidates will do are offer up thoughts and prayers. They wouldn't act when a madman murdered twenty first graders and their teachers, so why would they act now? Sometimes I really wish there was a hell, because those who stand by and LET this happen would surely go there.

We don't need prayers. Prayers do nothing.

Only we Americans can fix this. Only we can stop this culture of death. Only we can get weapons of mass murder out of the hands of people who will use them. Only we can save ourselves from each other.

If only so many of our leaders weren't held hostage by the gun industry, the almighty dollar and their own moral cowardice.

"American exceptionalism" indeed.

We are a sick, sick nation.

It is rather ironic, but the bill needed to die. You can’t deprive people of their rights on the basis of suspicion. And the Terrorist Watch List is problematic itself.
