The Trumpistas have been ... deplorable. Gloaty and smug and entitled. They are very angry about being called racists, a lot more mad than they ever got about any of the racist stuff that Trump said, and also a lot more mad about being called racist than they are about the dozens of hate crimes committed against minorities since the election. They are a pack of immature racist bullies, and they are shocked and angry that anyone is suggesting that they need to act any better or lift a finger to deserve any of the respect they crave so badly. We are fools if we give them the benefit of the doubt. They will trample us into the ground, given half a chance.
Yes, you're right. Even now, some people are trying to normalize this, as if it's always this way or that Trump and his followers will mellow. Ain't gonna happen. This is going to be nasty and horrible.
If Clinton had won, we might still be seeing demonstrations in the streets, but Clinton wouldn't be planning on rounding up millions of immigrants or taking away Americans' healthcare. Things would eventually calm down.
