Can you get hit with a hurricane for hypocrisy?
So here's an observation.
Every time there's a natural disaster - hurricane, tornado, earthquake, etc. - evangelical Christians are quick to proclaim that it's god's punishment for some behavior they don't like. Hurricane Katrina was punishment for gays. Hurricane Sandy was punishment for gay marriage. Mass bird deaths were the fault of gays in the military. (Okay, they mostly blame gays for everything.)
But let's look at this:
ImpeachedPresident Trump was impeached on December 18, 2019.
The Senate acquitted Trump, after a show trial, on February 5.
Now, just over a month later, the United States has identified over 5,000 people infected with COVID-19 and the nation has begun shutting down completely.
Trump, most of his cabinet, and many Repulican congresspersons have been exposed to the virus MULTIPLE TIMES.
You think evangelicals will decide that the virus is god's judgement for Trump's acquittal?
That's what I thought.

Pretty sure Bill Clinton is a rampaging heterosexual and that didn't matter to them.
You mean the great nation that's collapsing around our ears? Yeah, really, really great.
This is going to get very, very bad. Illinois had early cases, so I assume that we might get hit very hard, but our governor (thank lack of god we elected Pritzker instead of Rauner!) has stepped up in a big way. He shut down schools early, then bars and restaurants to sit-in traffic, and now casinos and the like.
Pritzker wasn't my guy in the primaries, but I voted for him in the general and now I'm proud of that vote. He's earned and is earning my support for the next election cycle.
Stay safe, man.
Very glad to know that. It's crazy that the governors are being put into this position, but we all know there's a vacuum at the top.
We have a Republican governor in Maryland (yeah, I know) but he's been transparent and pro-active. He seems to be the exception among Republicans.
Stay safe indeed.
As of 5:00 PM today, we're on "shelter in place" until April 8. Only essential stores and services are going to remain open, and people are being told essentially to stay home unless they absolutely have to go out.
Kid#1 lives in a tiny apartment in Chicago, so she's coming back here today, at least for some time.
Kid#2, still in high school, is dealing with her Junior prom being cancelled and probably not seeing the boyfriend for some time.
It's so strange. It feels simultaneously like everything is normal and also completely, terribly wrong. I'm having trouble focusing on work--all I do is refresh news sites.
I would really appreciate it if you'd quit appropriating my name, you twatwaffle.
Geez, I don't check for a couple of days and he goes nuts again.
Sorry, will delete his nonsense immediately.
I'm also teleworking and agree, it's weird. Glad your kids are okay. My son just starting dating a girl at college and is now separated from her. Likely his senior year will be finished at home. :-/
