I have heard all the ridiculous theories from both friends and family. COVID will stop after the election (because it's just a liberal plot to destroy Trump). Cases aren't rising, we're just testing more. COVID is not that bad. We don't know very much about this disease. We can't let this virus control our lives; we need to get back to normal.
All of these are just excuses for ignoring the science and being so selfish that you risk exposing your fellow Americans to a deadly virus. Conditions are also exacerbated by the Republican-controlled Senate which won't pass desperately needed economic help so people can afford to stay home.
The result of this stupidity and selfishness?

Of course, if we had real leadership and done what was necessary from the beginning, we'd have avoided thousands of deaths and be in a recovery right now. What we're seeing are the consequences of doing the wrong thing.
