You will never live in a society when you have an armed citizenry and you won't have a single gun death. That is nonsense. It's drivel. But I am, I, I — I think it's worth it. I think it's worth to have a cost of, unfortunately, some gun deaths every single year so that we can have the Second Amendment to protect our other God-given rights. That is a prudent deal. It is rational. Nobody talks like this. They live in a complete alternate universe.
I doubt Charlie had enough time to realize that he was the latest person paying the cost.
For what I've seen, MAGA are expressing condolences for Kirk that they didn't share for Minnesota State Representative Melissa Hortman and her husband, Mark, when they were assassinated in their home three months ago by a Trump supporter. Or for Nancy Pelosi's husband when he was attacked with a hammer in his home by a Trump supporter (Trump actually made fun of Paul Pelosi). Not shockingly, MAGA are also occupied calling for violence against Democrats and Liberals, while lying about the political affiliation of the two Trump would-be assassins, both of whom were Trump supporters.
In other words, Democrats are expressing condolences and trying to calm things down, while MAGA is setting this up as an excuse to kill their enemies. Welcome to Wednesday.
Charlie Kirk was a terrible human being, racist and misogynist, who left this world a far more hateful place than when he came into it. He's more responsible than most for our current fascist country. I'm not one to "not speak ill of the dead" when the dead person was a blight on humanity. In fact, he died at the very moment he was blowing racist and transphobic dog whistles to the crowd. But I do feel empathy for his children.
No matter how terrible Charlie was, political violence isn't the answer and now two things will definitely happen.
This act will solidify MAGA behind Trump, dropping the continuing Epstein scandal out of the news cycle and out of their goldfish-like memories.
This act will also precipitate violence against the rest of us. It may go so far as to inspire some Third Reich solutions.
Looks like MAGA just found their very own Horst Wessel. Apparently Ashli Babbitt wasn't doing the job.

I've been calling Ashli Babbit "Horst Wessel" for years.
As for Kirk, I'm not a supporter of political violence, but I also don't cry when the garbage truck comes by and empties the can.
