Admittedly, Cracked.com isn't exactly a scholarly scientific journal. But its feature on "The 5 Most Horrifying Bugs in the World" will educate you, scare you and make you laugh.

Warning: Some harsh language. But when you're talking about bugs that can kill you in the most horrific ways possible, "some harsh language" is probably appropriate.

There's also some horrific human behavior mentioned. Like the tribe in South America whose coming of age ritual is to require young men to keep their hands for ten minutes in gloves into which they've woven dozens of bullet ants. And then repeat, twenty times!
