Some brilliant legal reasoning

In today's session of the federal trial on the Constitutionality of California's Proposition 8, Perry v. Schwarzenegger, which revoked same-sex marriage, the attorneys for the Defense did another bang up job. Their main focus today was, believe it or not, how good Teh Gays have it.

They also played the "we're the victim" card.

Thompson is the attorney for the Defense.
Stewart is attorney for the Plaintiff.

(This is from a liveblogging and thus not entirely word for word.)
Thompson: Video will now show an elderly couple beat up by opponents of Prop 8.

Stewart: Not relevant, inflammatory

Thompson: We want to show that one of the reasons there is discrimination against Gays & Lesbians is because of the violent tactics of the opponents of Prop 8.
Let's get this argument straight. They want to show that people discriminate against gays because gays get pissed off when you deny them basic human rights.

Those stupid gays! How dare they get upset when we deny them their rights! Ingrates!

The judge didn't allow the showing of the video.
