Casablanca

Last night as I was watching TV before going up to bed, I happened to see Casablanca playing on TCM.  It was somewhere around 20 minutes into the story as I started watching.  And couldn’t stop.

What a great movie.  I’ve seen it only once all the way through before and while I certainly *know* it’s a great movie, I didn’t *remember* that it’s a great movie.  The atmosphere, the characters, the setting, the cast, the tight script -- all combine into creating a sophisticated, historically interesting, enjoyable, eminently quotable movie, that’s simply one of the best ever made.

I’m glad I was reminded of that last night.
