Enter Half-Gov Sarah Palin talking about Paul Revere and his famous midnight ride to warn the colonists of the British troop movements.
He who warned, uh, the British that they weren’t going to be taking away our arms uh by ringing those bells and making sure as he’s riding his horse through town to send those warning shots and bells that we were going to be secure and we were going to be free and we were going to be armed. This word vomit is not only inaccurate and bizarre (why the focus on "bells"?) but it's obvious that Sarah Plain and Rich has NO IDEA what she's talking about. Revere was warning the British? The British were going to take away our guns? Apparently the British weren't big fans of the not yet written Second Amendment.
If you're a smart politician, you recognize when you've made a misstatement and correct it. You don't double down on the stupid.
Re-enter Sarah Palin.
You know what? I didn’t mess up about Paul Revere. Here’s what Paul Revere did. He warned the Americans that “the British were coming, the British were coming.” And they were going to try to take our arms so got to make sure that, uh, we were protecting ourselves and, uhm, shoring up all of our ammunitions and our firearms so that they couldn’t take them.
But remember that the British had already been there — many soldiers — for seven years in that area. And part of Paul Revere’s ride… And it wasn’t just one ride. He was a courier. He was a messenger. Part of his ride was to warn the British that were already there that, “Hey. You’re not going to succeed. You’re not going to take American arms. You are not gonna beat our own well-armed, uh, persons, uh, individual private militia that we have. He did warn the British.
And in a shout-out, gotcha type of question that was asked of me, I answered candidly. And I know my American history.Yeah, that didn't help.
Still the fixation on the guns, still the warning of the British, and an accusation of a "gotcha" question for asking her what she thought of a historical monument (Boston's North Church) she had just visited.
She is SO ready to be President.

And now her fans have tried to change Paul Revere's Wikipedia page to reflect the new facts from their hero's mouth, adding the "bells" version. Wiki took it down, calling it lies.
