Compassionate conservatism? Not so much.
It's been pretty widely publicized already, but since I posted about the first shoe dropping, I probably should do the same about this shoe.
You may recall that in a recent Republican Presidential candidate debate, conservatives cheered Rick Perry's execution of 234 people. Yes, executing people is an applause line during Republican debates.
During the last debate, organized by the Tea Party, others wanted their moment in the spotlight of shame. So, when Wolf Blitzer asked Ron Paul if a 30 year old without health insurance who falls into a coma should be allowed to die, several audience members shouted "YES!" Link
So, there you have your modern Republican party. Cheering executions and people dying from a lack of insurance.
Keep in mind that this is the same group of people who harass the children of people who lease buildings to women's clinics (in my own town nonetheless), wanted Congress to pass a law to interfere in the Terri Schiavo case, and went nuts about fictitious "death panels" in the Health Care Act.
How many more shoes will conservatives drop before this is over?
