Goodbye old friend, welcome new one!
After seventeen years, our second car, a 1995 Mitsubishi Galant, was having issues. The air-conditioning died years ago. She'd been through several alternators. The belts squealed. Plus the driver side doors didn't close right, forcing me to remove the door ajar switch to keep the door ajar light from draining the battery. We only drove her occasionally but we needed a more reliable vehicle and one which Rachel was comfortable driving. We'd had many fun adventures together, but that time was drawing to a close.
Knowing the end was near, I cleaned her up a couple of weekends ago, removing all our stuff, giving her the Flagship car wash treatment and vacuuming the inside. She was in better shape than she had been in years.
After several false starts, we finally got a new car last weekend.
This is the third car we've bought at King Kia in Gaithersburg and we had as easy a time as usual (save for some complications with outside financing, but that wasn't King's fault). We got the price we wanted and they knocked off $1000 for our Galant trade-in. We didn't expect more than $500 so we were thrilled.
What did we get? A used Kia Rio with 13,000 miles on it. She's tiny and doesn't have a long list of features, but she's fun to drive. And she has air-conditioning, which I consider huge. We are especially enjoying the AUX iPod input which lets us plug our iPods into the radio. Rachel already loves her.
Here she is:
Goodbye old Galant, hello new Rio.

This is our 2nd vehicle from King Kia.
Right. We got the first one from ::shudder:: Criswell. Ew. I had blotted that from my mind, thank you very much.
Who are you "anonymous" that you are so learned in the ways of our family?
