Best Commute Ever!
I’ve been commuting to work in DC for 22 years. I’ve taken a variety of different routes, all leading to the Metro into DC. Typically, my commute takes 80 minutes. Because of the huge number of closings, the day after Thanksgiving is one of the best commuting days of the year.
This morning, I left home at 7:26AM. My bus arrived on time, maybe a little early, and there were only two others on board for the trip to Shady Grove station, rather than the usual 15-20 people. I arrived at Shady Grove quickly because of the lack of traffic, and got right on a train. At Gallery Place/Chinatown, a green line train was pulling into the platform when I arrived so the transfer was wait-free.
I arrived at the office at 8:35AM, 69 minutes after I left home, possibly an all time record. Woo hoo!

Damn, and I thought my commute was long at 40 minutes.
My commute to work, in good weather, is 4 minutes.
