"Not working to prevent the collapse of civilization" is not a very good political slogan

Tea Party State Rep (R-Washington) Matt Shea warned a bunch of survivalists at a rally in Idaho about the pending, nay INEVITABLE, collapse of civilization and how they should be stockpiling ammunition.
We need to prepare for the inevitable collapse that is going to happen. You know it’s going to happen. That’s right, I am a politician and I am standing up here and saying that. … When it happens, we need to look at this as a opportunity, not a crisis. Who’s job is liberty? That’s our job. Link
Super ironically, if there is a collapse, it will almost certainly be caused by the austerity and anti-government policies conceived, endorsed and enacted by the Tea Party. Even more super ironically, no one in the Tea Party is bright enough to realize the irony.

Maybe...maybe they're smarter than you think. There's a large vein of desire for the apocalypse in these folks--maybe they're doing this intentionally to bring it on.
