A win for Chipotle and its customers

It's good for once to support a business doing the right thing. Last year I began boycotting Chic-Fil-A because of their support of anti-gay groups. They've claimed to have dropped support for those groups but I'm not convinced yet so I still maintain the boycott.

Now, however, I can start supporting Chipotle and feeling good about it.
Following in Starbucks’ footsteps, Chipotle yesterday issued a statement not banning guns, but saying “we are respectfully asking that customers not bring guns into our restaurants, unless they are authorized law enforcement personnel.”
“The vast majority of gun owners are responsible citizens and we appreciate them honoring this request,” Chipotle noted in the very generous statement, adding “the display of firearms in our restaurants has now created an environment that is potentially intimidating or uncomfortable for many of our customers.”  Link

Why did Chipotle feel the need to do this? Because of these asshats.

Earlier this month, members of a Texas group calling itself Open Carry Tarrant County marched into their local Dallas-area Chipotle and scared customers half to death. As you can see from this image, these two young gun slingers (and others) were armed with assault weapons and semiautomatic handguns, posing for photos.
I just don't understand these people. Do they really think walking around with this crap is necessary? Are they that afraid of everything? I have NEVER carried a gun around and I feel perfectly safe 99.999% of the time. But I can guarantee you that if I saw these jerks in public, I would feel afraid.

Of course, it's really not about safety. It's about a fetish and needing to feel like you're cool and tough. These assholes strut around with these phallic substitutes, all the while terrorizing those of use who don't think it's appropriate to carry assault weapons into a fast food restaurant just because your state is stupid enough to let you.

Americans suffer from an epidemic of mass shootings and why would anyone seeing these guys NOT think that they are the next Columbine or Aurora shooters? Some day, some "good guy with a gun" is going to be eating a burrito and see these morons walk in the door and decide to take them out, "just in case".

I just hope they only kill each other.
