Yesterday, the White House tried to control the damage from Fire and Fury, the inside the White House book which paints Trump as a bloated moron who everyone in the White House hates, by having him sit at a table with Senators and not drool or fall asleep for almost an entire hour.

Of course, when he (mostly) succeeded at not crapping himself, conservatives swelled with pride while many of the "both sides" media praised him for his long-awaited "Presidential" pivot.

Trump himself had this to say this, today.

“It was a tremendous meeting. Actually, it was reported as incredibly good, and my performance — you know, some of them called it a performance, I consider it work — but it got great reviews by everybody, other than two networks who were phenomenal for about two hours,” Trump said. “Then after that they were called by their bosses that say, ‘Oh, wait a minute.’ And unfortunately, a lot of those anchors sent us letters saying that was one of the greatest meetings they’ve ever witnessed. And they were great for about two hours, they were phenomenal and then they went a little south on us, but not that bad, it was fine.”

That's kind of coherent. Not third-grader coherent, but in the ballpark.

But, lest anyone forget, here's something he said during the meeting in question, for which he received (and gave himself) such high marks.

"I think what we are all saying is we'll do DACA and we can certainly start comprehensive immigration reform the following afternoon, OK?" Trump said. "We'll take an hour off and start. I do believe that. Because once we get DACA done if it's done properly with security and everything else, if it's done properly, we have taken a big chunk of comprehensive out of the negotiations. I don't think it's going to be that complicated."

Yes, we'll "do" DACA with security and everything else, and have taken a big chunk of comprehensive out of the negotiations.

Makes perfect sense and expertly expressed. Shows clearly his mastery of the policies in question.
