I love the Thanksgiving holiday. For me, it's always meant food, family, playing games and waking up to the smell of turkey. But the world is a big, complex place and it's not that way for everyone.
Here's a little perspective.
For settlers, today is known as Thanksgiving. However, for many of us Natives, today is a day of mourning. Be respectful while we mourn the murder of our peoples, the loss of our lands, and the assault on our cultures. #NationalDayofMourning— #DearNonNatives (@dearnonnatives) November 22, 2018
History is written by the victors. And holidays created by them too.
