Graham needs to go

There are a lot of terrible things going on right now as the Trump Administration enters its death throes -- pushing through an unqualified, radical, Supreme Court pick, not even trying to provide aid to alleviate America's suffering from COVID and the economic catastrophe, Trump holding super-spreader events for his dumb supporters. But however bad it is, you can count on Republicans to always make things worse.

During a debate on Friday night, Senator Lindsey Graham, in a very close race with Jaime Harrison for Graham's senate seat, decided to say the quiet part out loud. When asked about racism in South Carolina policing, after saying he doesn't think there's systemic racism in SC, he said this:

 “I care about everybody. If you are a young African American, an immigrant, you can go anywhere in this state, you just need to be conservative, not liberal.” 

W-T-F. Seriously, W-T-F?

Is he saying that an individual's freedom in South Carolina depends on their political ideology? That conservatives are free to move throughout the state but that liberals aren't? And just how would that work?  Are SC police allowing free and unfettered existence to black and immigrant conservatives, but not liberals? And when police pull over someone for driving-while-black will they be able to identify the good blacks from the bad ones?

Maybe it would help if liberals wore some sort of identifying armband or patch on their clothes? Maybe a yellow star?

Fuck this guy and his fascist bullhorn. It may be a relief to know that after the debate, Harrison raised a record $57 million in donations. Let's hope he relieves Graham of his lectern and sends him to retirement. (There's also a mystery about Graham's Coronavirus status because he refuses to get tested. It would be some serious karma if he has it and has to suffer for a few weeks. I wouldn't shed a tear.)
