What Coulter did, in her callow, empty way, was to accuse John Edwards of not being a real man. To do so, she asserted that gay men are not real men either. The emasculation of men in minority groups is an ancient trope of the vilest bigotry. Why was it wrong, after all, for white men to call African-American men "boys"? Because it robbed them of the dignity of their masculinity. And that's what Coulter did last Friday to gays. She said - and conservatives applauded - that I and so many others are not men. I can't believe I'm blogging about this bi-, um, woman
As you may have heard, that paragon of morality, Ann Coulter, recently called Presidential candidate John Edwards a "faggot". Andrew Sullivan, a gay conservative, posted an excellent response on his weblog. Check it out here.

I agree you are wasting space blogging about this one. She is largely a publicity hound. She has found a niche audience and knows what red meat to feed it. I don't see much need to take her very seriously, but I agree that the fact that large numbers of conservatives are willing to listen is disturbing--or means that they think she is hot and they like the idea of a hot conservative girl. Actually, she plays on that--being a conservative to her means that she can use her body to her advantage and give it an ideological meaning--sort of like growing long hair in the sixties.
She's not worth the space, true. But I did like Sullivan's essay and I thought it worth noting.
And anyone who thinks Ann Coulter is attractive isn't paying close attention. Yikes.
Well, initially she did have a reputation (possibly self-created) as the hot conservative.
Oh, I know. But they were only comparing her to Bill O'Reilly. :-)
The actual "hot" conservative is Michelle Malkin, but she's almost equally horrible.
