Recently, Mitt Romney hired Richard Grenell, an openly gay man, to be his national security spokesman. Grenell is something of a misogynist and had been accused of dishonesty in previous jobs, so his appointment wasn't exactly welcomed. Today, he resigned after only two weeks on the job. Why?
Because he's gay.
Right wing conservatives raised such a stink over a (gasp!) gay man working with Mitt Romney that he folded to the pressure and resigned. Some religious conservatives were almost giddy at having driven him from his post, calling this a "huge win".
As the Obama campaign's digital director, Teddy Goff, immediately tweeted, "Today we learned that in the year 2012, a Republican nominee for President can't have a gay person as spokesman."
Shameful.
