Russians helped choose our President

I really wish I could stop posting about the clusterfudge that was our recent election. This was a story first broken by the Washington Post and it should overshadow everything else.

Given the closeness of the election, there is NO WAY this didn't influence the outcome.

This interference was known before the election, so President Obama gathered Congressmen from both parties to come to a bipartisan agreement to do something.
In a secure room in the Capitol used for briefings involving classified information, administration officials broadly laid out the evidence U.S. spy agencies had collected, showing Russia’s role in cyber-intrusions in at least two states and in hacking the emails of the Democratic organizations and individuals.
...
And they made a case for a united, bipartisan front in response to what one official described as “the threat posed by unprecedented meddling by a foreign power in our election process.”
...
The Democratic leaders in the room unanimously agreed on the need to take the threat seriously.
...
According to several officials, [Senate Majority Leader, Republican Mitch] McConnell raised doubts about the underlying intelligence and made clear to the administration that he would consider any effort by the White House to challenge the Russians publicly an act of partisan politics.

Read that well. Before the election, the Democrats wanted to safeguard the integrity of the election. The Republicans didn't give a damn. The party that's been going on about voting fraud for years, didn't give a damn about protecting American elections from interference from adversarial foreign powers.

The Trump transition team's response to these revelations was to issue the utterly inane statement below, a statement so chock full of falsehoods it's got to set some kind of record.
“These are the same people that said Saddam Hussein had weapons of mass destruction. The election ended a long time ago in one of the biggest Electoral College victories in history. It’s now time to ‘Make America Great Again.’”
First, these AREN'T the same people that said Saddam Hussein had weapons of mass destruction (which is irrelevant in any case), that was the Bush Administration CIA, fourteen years ago. Second, although it has SEEMED like forever since Trump won, it was in fact only one month ago. That is NOT "a long time ago". Third, this was not one of the biggest Electoral College victories in history. That's laughable. Out of 58 Presidential elections, Trump's "victory" was no. 46 on the size of the margin.  Washington was nos. 1 and 2 with 100% of the electors. President Obama's election in 2008 was no. 32. And finally, how can you "Make America Great Again" by ignoring this interference?

Trump's people can't even issue a three sentence press release without lying their asses off.

To sum up:  The Republican Party has absolutely NO problem with the Russians controlling the electoral process of the United States of America.

Remember that.
