The installation company called later that day and asked if we wanted a second opinion. Heck yeah! So the second installer came by yesterday (weather preventing the install) and this morning. Apparently, the first guy was a doofus because we now have DirecTV high definition service! And just in time for tonight is Lost and Survivor! Plus, Carol reports that if you're watching TV and the phone rings, a pop-up on the screen tells you who's calling! Holy crap!

That's great. Maybe the first installer was a mole secretly working for Comcast.
Actually, we think he is taking kickbacks from Dish Network. He said he used to work for them, and "He shouldn't tell us this, but we could get service from Dish because their signal comes from the other direction".
Too bad Burnett is way too cheap to shoot Survivor in HD.
Are you sure? It's not widescreen, but it sure looks like a higher resolution than we're used to.
The picture is better due to the incresed resolution on HD sets but it is not HD. Watch Jeporady HD (very basic set) and you will see a big difference in details. Better yet, watch anything on HD Discovery. It's a shame as Survivor would really pop at the locations that they shoot at.
