Are we great yet? Can I just go lie down?

Let's talk about the utterly disastrous last ten days in the United States.

On the good side, Doug Jones beat child molester Roy Moore for a U.S. Senate seat in Alabama. And that's as far as the good news goes.

On the bad side, net neutrality rules, the backbone of an independent internet, are now gone. Of all the intellectually bankrupt arguments used by douchebro and huge-mug user, FCC Chairman Ajit Pai, to eliminate consumer protections and give everything to huge telecomms, the worst was that a light regulatory hand was instrumental in fostering the internet in the 1990s.

Of course, in the 1990s, Amazon was not a thing. Job offers exclusively on-line was not a thing. Banking and loan applications on-line was not a thing. Paying all your bills on-line was not a thing. And of course, the number of streaming services on the internet in the 1990s was ZERO. When we moved from horses to automobiles, the light regulation of horses was not used as an excuse not to regulate cars.

Today, Republicans signed into law one of the most heinous, anti-American pieces of legislation ever conceived. The "tax reform" law will likely crash the economy, add $1.5 TRILLION to the debt, make income inequality even worse than it is now, increase taxes on the poor, won't create jobs, AND cost 13 million people their health insurance NEXT YEAR. And those are just the provisions we know about. I'm sure we'll be discovering new horrors over the next few weeks.

But, hey, many members of Congress will get over $1 million in tax relief and President Wanker will likely see benefits of over $1 billion. This was an out and out scam to take money from the poor and give it to the rich, who, need I remind you, DON'T FUCKING NEED IT.

It should also be noted that the assholes who bitched for the last eight years about the Affordable Care Act being jammed down their throats (a lie), passed this huge piece of social engineering with ZERO public hearings, accepted ZERO Democratic amendments, and got the whole thing done in seven weeks. And, they lied about every single facet of the bill and the process.

Well, the reality isn't any better.

Oh, and of course, if you're a Republican, no screwing of Americans is complete unless it involves children. Congress let funding lapse on the Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP), two months ago. As funding dries up in state after state over the next few months, about 9 million CHILDREN will lose health insurance.

Senator Orrin Hatch had this to say about why CHIP hasn't been renewed.

“The reason CHIP’s having trouble is because we don’t have money anymore,”

He said this mere days before giving a $1.5 TRILLION TAX BREAK TO RICH PEOPLE.

These people aren't just selfish, and greedy, and cruel, and hypocritical, and terrible.

They are monsters.

There is no other word that captures this kind of depravity, this lack of morality, this lack of decency and human empathy. They are supposed to be public servants, working to improve the lives of Americans. ALL Americans.

Instead, they are lining their own pockets, deliberately hurting those less fortunate than themselves, ignoring the Constitution, destroying good government, ruining America and moving us close and closer to a fascist autocracy.

They must be stopped.
