And now, on the eve of the Fourth of July in the 21st century, the United States of America again has Concentration Camps.
Definition of concentration camp
: a place where large numbers of people (such as prisoners of war, political prisoners, refugees, or the members of an ethnic or religious minority) are detained or confined under armed guard . . .
It's been said before: if you're more upset by calling the camps we've set up to torture immigrants and asylum-seekers on our southern border concentration camps than you are that those camps exist, you have no sense of morality, justice or humanity.
I grew up thinking it could never happen here. I was wrong.
