Mapgate

You may have already heard about this latest bit of . . . "oh, for crap's sake". Here's the quick version.

Last Sunday, while Tweeting about Hurricane Dorian, Trump said that people in Alabama should beware of the hurricane.

This was stupid and dangerous, because the forecast did not indicate that the hurricane was tracking for Alabama. It was so wrong that the National Weather Service issued a corrective Tweet.

People rightly mocked Trump about his ignorance and the story would have died, smothered in the shitshow that Trump puts on every week, if Trump had been able to LET IT GO.

Today, in a hurricane warning video put out by the White House, Trump gave a hurricane "update" where, instead of focusing on the reality of where the hurricane is right now (approaching Florida) and where it's going (up the East Coast), he made a big show of bringing out one of the original, obviously outdated, forecast maps. He talked about how Dorian had originally been projected to hit Florida dead on and also the Gulf. (Cleverly, he didn't mention Alabama by name). (Spoiler: It's not that clever.)

But people noticed that someone had poorly drawn an extension of the path on the map to touch Alabama. I added the red arrow below to show you. Since the official forecast now seemingly touches Alabama, Trump was right all along! Who would have thought?!?

A reporter asked Trump if he had drawn the extension himself. Trump hemmed and hawed, but DIDN'T DENY IT.

The "President" of the United States is so thin-skinned and narcissistic, that he would rather lie to millions of Americans in harms way than to just stay silent on something stupid he said a few days ago.

Oh and by the way, it is illegal to modify a National Weather Service forecast map and pass it off as official. Because Trump can't avoid violating the law even for a single day.

Stay safe, everyone in the projected path of the hurricane (NOT Alabama).

It's not troubling just because it's so stupid and petty. It's troubling because it's a good indication that this asshole won't accept the results of an election that goes against him.

If he goes to the mattresses about this, what's he going to do if he loses Texas?
