Boostered!

Carol and I received our Moderna vaccine booster on Saturday. I also got my flu shot (Carol already had hers).

The rest of Saturday, we both had sore arms from the shot, but little other effect. On Sunday, I was feeling achy and had the chills for about five hours, which a nice nap under the electric blanket resolved, while Carol was not feeling well for most of the day. This morning, I'm fine; Carol is still a little under the weather. Ben got his booster shot this morning.

This discomfort was an extremely small price to pay for minimizing the chance that we are infected with COVID-19, or if we are infected, greatly reducing the chance that we will get badly sick, require hospitalization or die. Getting vaccinated is a huge value in terms of cost versus benefit.

If you haven't, get the vaccine. Chances are pretty good that you've already been vaccinated for polio, measles, mumps, rubella, diphtheria, tetanus, hepatitis and more, and never gotten any of those diseases. The practice of vaccination goes back at least 200 years, even though it's obviously practiced far more safely and better understood now. Vaccination is undoubtedly the biggest medical advancement in history in terms of lives saved.

So go save your own life, and possibly your family's, and get vaccinated. Some of us want to end this pandemic.
