He just wants the country roads to take him home

God, these people are soooo tedious.

Below is an exchange between Trump lawyer, John Lauro, and Major Garrett on CBS' Face the Nation on Sunday. Trump's team is going to pursue a change of venue in his criminal trial for trying to overthrow the US government on Jan. 6.

MAJOR GARRETT: Are you still going to pursue a change of venue?
JOHN LAURO: Absolutely. We—we would like a diverse venue, a diverse jury. One that—that reflects the—
MAJOR GARRETT: Do you have any expectation that will be granted?
JOHN LAURO: That reflects the—the—the—the characteristics of the American people. It's up to the judge. I think West Virginia would be an excellent venue to try this case.
MAJOR GARRETT: Speaking of the judge—
JOHN LAURO: They're close to D.C. and a much more diverse--
MAJOR GARRETT: Understood.
First of all, way to push back, Major Garrett. That's some bang up journalism there.

The Trump Team's position on the venue for Trump's trial is that West Virginia is MORE diverse than the District of Columbia.

Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha!!!!

As a matter of reality, WV is the second least diverse among the states behind Vermont. 93% of WV citizens are white. Which is, of course, why Trump wants the venue switched to WV. It's a pretty blatant dog whistle.

God, these people are sooo transparent.

Oh, and in case there's any misunderstanding of why the Jan. 6 trial is being held in DC.

The 6th Amendment to the Constitution:
The Trial of all Crimes, except in Cases of Impeachment, shall be by Jury; and such Trial shall be held in the State where the said Crimes shall have been committed; but when not committed within any State, the Trial shall be at such Place or Places as the Congress may by Law have directed.
Seems pretty straightforward. Unless you're a Republican.

People look at things like this and think about how much the conservatives have changed. They haven't. They've always been this.

20 years ago, conservatives were talking about the value of torture. 40 years ago, they were cheering the deaths of gay men from AIDS.

They've always been terrible. They're just more blatant about it now.
