A sobering scorecard

Reminder.

Since 1988, 34 years ago, Democratic candidates won the popular vote in these Presidential elections.

  • 1992
  • 1996
  • 2000
  • 2008
  • 2012
  • 2016
  • 2020

That's ALL of them except 2004.

And yet, because of our antiquated, anti-Democratic electoral college, and various rat-fuckery by conservative courts and Russia, the Republicans won the White House in 2000, 2004, and 2016.

This means that despite the clear will of the majority of the American people, the two Republican Presidents elected since 1992 have appointed five of the nine Supreme Court Justices. The three appointed by Trump were not only nominated by a President who lost the popular vote, but confirmed by Senators who represent a minority of American citizens.

This is not democracy. I care about that. I hope you do too.

Republicans don't. All they care about is power.
